Eric runs a family fund, Andover Ventures, which makes seed and pre-seed startup investments. He is an experienced engineer, investor, and entrepreneur. Eric also started AE Machines, where he managed business and technology development. Previously, Eric worked as a software developer for eVestment, a web-based data analytics company, where he specialized in algorithm and database design for all facets of the platform. Additionally, Eric spent time at Edison Partners as an associate on the Financial Technology team focusing on deal sourcing and investment due diligence. Eric has a BS in Computer Science from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
Howard started his career in traditional engineering and product development roles at Caterpillar, Ford, and finally John Deere, where he later pivoted to lead mobile software creation. He is an experienced technology and product development leader with expertise in systems engineering, technology commercialization, and business readiness determination. The entrepreneurs Howard has collaborated with while at John Deere’s Technology Innovation Center in the University of Illinois Research Park have inspired him and he has fallen in love with the start-up spirit. Howard is an advisor to a couple of start-up companies in the UI Research Park and is a mentor on an ag tech-related I-Corp team. He also is an occasional lecturer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Industrial Design and Technology and Management programs on the topics of product and technology development, and has interests in energy and sustainability. Howard holds a Master’s in Systems Design and Management from MIT and a BSME from Rice University.
Chris is an engineer and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in agriculture, business, and academia. Chris’s expertise includes startup business operations, software product development, sustainability, hydrology, field data collection, automation, and practical farming experience. He is the founder and managing partner of Hatch Ag Group, LLC, a consulting company focused on finding answers to technical challenges and investing in great ideas in agriculture. Before the launch of Hatch Ag, Chris was the founder and CEO of Agrible, Inc., where he built the company and team to over 50 employees, developed multiple software and hardware products, and led the company in raising $10MM. Since 2004, he has also been serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois. Prior to 2014, Chris was the Vice President and Principal Engineer at Waterborne Environmental, Inc., where he built a team of over 20 employees serving crop protection chemical companies as clients.
Mara has presented many stories for various companies, knowing it takes strategy, knowledge of target market, and monitoring of achievements to create success. Beginning with an entrepreneurial venture co-founding a green nonprofit, the Illinois Green Business Association, Mara co-developed a green business program and helped grow a statewide presence for the organization. Working with small-to-medium sized companies and planning & marketing two statewide green business summits, she was the voice of the organization known for green business advocacy in Illinois. More recently, she has consulted with a technology startup, led marketing for a web design & digital marketing agency, and worked as Marketing Content Coordinator for the largest global hospitality telephone company in their sales & marketing offices. Mara earned her Bachelor's degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
